A team member conducts radio tracking of released captive reared mangrove finches at dusk. Transmitters allow the team to closely monitor the dispersal and survival of the birds for up to three weeks following their release. Results show that initial survival is extremely high and that the birds stay predominantly within the mangrove forest but also range further across lava fields and into the surrounding arid zone vegetation.
